Industry: Manufacturing
Freight and logistics are not our core competency. Freight People take care of that for us, and we have faith that it’s in the right hands, allowing us to take care of our core business.

Opportunity

Due to significant growth, Karcher’s logistics had become an expensive and labour-intensive exercise. To meet their complex product distribution needs, they required a cost-effective, flexible 3rd party logistics freight solution that would prioritise quality service delivery to their customers.

Outcomes

  • TECHNOLOGY – Integration with 3PL WMS system + SAP
  • CUSTOMISED – Automatic freight recommendations based on type of freight and destination
  • EFFICIENT – Manual processes requiring tedious data entry are now automated with built-in business rules, resulting in an optimised supply chain
  • COST – Programmed to compare carriers, allocating the right carrier for each freight lane, saving time and money
The way we’re linked through our SAP system to Cario to the 3PL all the way through to our customer – sending information one way and then all the way back – for me, is fantastic.
Hamish Matheson, Managing Director , Karcher Australia

Future

Karcher now have the foundations and visibility needed to quickly and easily resolve day-to-day freight-related operational issues, while being able to readily adapt to changes in the freight management landscape – whether that’s related to cost, or freight service changes.

We recently ran a freight tender to benchmark Freight People against some of the other Australian freight providers. It was a rigorous and thorough process, and not only were Freight People price competitive, the personal service we continue to receive makes it a no brainer for us to stick with them.
George Angeli, COO, Karcher Australia

What’s next:

  • We will continue to optimise and evolve, looking for improvements and savings, as the market changes and as carrier performance changes.
  • Karcher are implementing the Cario mobile app
    • Allowing their sales team to track data while on the road, from their mobile, using their own internal Karcher order numbers
    • Lodge queries and let Karcher’s customers track using their mobile.
    • The Cario App is AI enabled, and with one scan, can accurately measure dimensions of packages and enter this directly into the solution with no manual data entry required
  • Cario’s AI will be driving new Predictive ETA’s. Cario will take general market data (such as floods, train derailments etc) and update the predicted ETA in real time to provide more realistic ETA’s on freight.
  • Like many companies Karcher are looking at their carbon emissions. The Scope 3 annual carbon report from Freight People will build on this, measuring the carbon emissions from their transport.
